It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of John Monaco.  Johnny passed away peacefully yesterday morning. 

 

Johnny served the WSLL community with distinction.  He served in many roles over the years: rules committee chair, player agent, historian, all-star coordinator, manager, coach, and more.  He loved baseball and he loved WSLL.  He served as a mentor, sounding board and friend to many on this Board and within WSLL.

"I am very sad to hear of the passing of Johnny Monaco.  Johnny was a dedicated and longtime Little League volunteer.  I have known Johnny more than 40 years. I was an All-Star Manager in early '80s for Three Dale-Dale City Little League when he was a coach-manager for West Springfield. 

I became ADA for D9 in 1986 and worked with Johnny on Committees and Tournaments. When I became DA for D9 in 1995 I asked Johnny to join the District Staff. He declined because he was still coaching a team and that was what he loved to do.  

Little League would be better if we had more Johnny Monaco's. He was a true friend to Little League, and he will be missed." - Lowell Easterly

"He represented the best of Little League, and I was proud to present him with the Musco Award for his many contributions toward making it possible for generations of Little League players to experience the unique joys of playing baseball on the fields of D9.
